Experiencing God through Missions
First Baptist Church of Mesa gives 10 percent of all giving to missions and our heart is focused on experiencing God through the missions we support. In addition to financial support, our mission involvement includes material donation, board membership, small group work trips, volunteering, and continuous prayer support. We strive to conduct two work trips, two mission focused dinners, and two missionary pulpit visits each year.
The great commission says that the church is to make disciples everywhere around the world. That job isn’t finished at FBCM until all our members are actively involved in either a ministry or a mission. In addition, the second of the great commandments tells us to love our neighbors as ourselves. We believe that this command is fulfilled by seeing where the Lord is at work in our community, nation, and world and, when He calls us, to join Him in that effort.
Missionary evangelism, we believe, begins close to home. Each Christian has an Oikos or a small group of people with whom we have a close relationship. These folks are our family, friends, neighbors, classmates and co-workers. As He sees fit, God will always bring new people into our Oikos, and when He does, we are called to befriend them. Then we are called to assist them in whatever needs they have. We need to meet with them, talk to them, pray for them and get involved in order to ease their burden. Once we have gained their trust and friendship, we bring them to church, introduce them to the Bible, witness to them, and explain the Gospel message.
Therefore, we seek out and support missionaries who share our goals for reaching the world. We especially seek missionaries who are close by so that we can get more personally involved. What follows is a list of the missionaries we support as of June 2009. You can click on any of them and read more. God bless you and please become a missionary with us.

Our on-going home mission projects are:
The Shoe-Box Ministry to the homeless, wherein we fill shoe boxes with toiletries and other small necessities. These we give, along with collections of food and clean used clothing, to the East Mesa Baptist Church Food Bank and Sunshine Acres Children's Home.
We collect eye glasses for the Eye Clinic in Haiti. Our special project last year was to send clothing to our missionary, Stan Crews, in Baja California, Mexico. We also plan to assist the Salvation Army over Thanksgiving and Christmas, hoping this will be an annual event.
