Outreach and Evangelism

VISION STATEMENT

Through Outreach and Evangelism, First Baptist Church will help lost people become found people, and found people become connected people, and connected people to grow toward Radical Christ-likeness.

  • First Semester:                                   Basic F.A.I.T.H.                                                         A Journey into FAITH

This will equip you with the basic tools and strategies needed to turn your Sunday School into soul-winning, outreach-oriented units.  You learn to use the FAITH Visit Outline to present the gospel to lost persons.  You also learn to use your Sunday school testimony in witnessing visits.  You learn the value of making Sunday School ministry visits.  You gain valuable experience in making witnessing visits, as well as in sharing FAITH in everyday situations, all with the support of team mates.  You will see the effects in your own life as God begins a spiritual transformation unlike anything you’ve every experienced.

  • Second Semester:                               ADVANCED F.A.I.T.H.                                 Building Bridges through FAITH

You learn the importance of following up with new Christians to lead them to their next step of growth and commitment.  You learn and practice additional skills for connecting people with Christ, the church, and Sunday School.  This will expand your training for follow-up visits, baptism, opinion polls, and preparing learners to lead a new team of learners through FAITH.  You see how vital connections occur in daily life, in intentional visits, in ministry actions, and in other ways.

  • Third Semester:                                 Discipleship F.A.I.T.H. #1                 Reaching out to cults

You learn more about what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ and to make disciples of others.  It will equip you to become a competent witness to those who have become ensnared in false teachings.  You will increase your understanding of historic Biblical doctrines.  You will gain confidence in confronting cult members with the truth of the gospel as you develop Christian compassion for them.

  • Fourth Semester:                               Discipleship F.A.I.T.H. #2                 Reaching out to World Religions

This will equip you to be a competent witness to persons who are lost without Christ, even though they may be deeply religious.  You will examine the claims of several world religions and formulate a Biblical response thus learning witnessing strategies for each of them and gaining more confidence in confronting followers of world religions with the truth of the gospel.

  • Fifth Semester:                                   Discipleship F.A.I.T.H. #3                 Working in your relationships

You will learn a variety of skills for developing witnessing relationships with lost people who may not initially be open to hearing the gospel.  You will learn ways to take advantage of opportunities to witness in everyday life along with important relationship skills.

  • Prayer Partners:                                 Discipleship F.A.I.T.H.                                  Praying in Faith

This gives a clear picture of just how important prayer is both personally and for the success of FAITH discipleship and evangelism.  You will apply biblical principles of prayer to develop a more intimate, personal relationship with God as you pray more effectively for the lost.
